Best own goal you've ever seen?

There have been some good 'uns over the years. One sticks in my mind. From the late 70s or early 80s. Home to QPR. Corner to us. Big defender called Bob Hazel climbs above everyone else and sends a rocket of a header into the top corner. No keeper would have stopped that.

We beat Leicester 1v0 years ago when Macavennie was chasing down a long ball over the top, he was ten yards behind the Leicester centre half though... Defender was running back towards his own goal and when the ball bounced in front of him he tried to pass it back to the keeper but instead managed a perfect lob on the half volley from 40+ yards out.

I watched Dowie’s a while ago an it wasn’t as spectacular as I had remembered - what made it so impressive was how dire he had been at the other end of the pitch missing many a sitter for a run of games beforehand.

It must have been surreal playing for Adema in this match, as their opposition scored 149 own goals.
It was a protest against a late, disputed, penalty in Adema's previous game, which meant SOE couldn't win the Malagasy Championship whatever happened in this game.

Steve Bould scored a quality 25 yarder at Upton Park I believe.

Yup. Home to Southampton, Walford lofted pass from the halfway line to Tom McAlister in goal, who in trying to keep the ball in play palmed it along the goal line, so of course it was then given as a goal.

Watched this in the Cranbrook pub in Ilford. My then girlfriend was working behind the bar. Before the match had ended I had threatened the manager with a bar stool, been thrown out and she'd quit.

Dowie's got a Masters in Engineering, and while working for British Aerospace, had an amateur football career. Luton Town tempted him into the professional game.
(Wiki - although I knew he had a degree, I didn't realise he had a Masters as well)
